Plotters

Mann Library Computing Center has 3 Canon color plotters located in the Stone Computing Center (map it) which can print in b&w or color on matte and glossy paper. These plotters work with either Macs or Windows computers.

Policies

  • Plotter jobs must be submitted from one of our workstations. You will need to copy the files you wish to use/print to one of these computers. If the lab is busy and you cannot find a computer available, please ask at the Stone Computing Center Desk (map it) for assistance in sending your job to the plotter.
  • Always ask the Operator to check your settings before you print. Additional adjustments may be necessary. Use of these machines requires the assistance of the Lab Operator.
  • Plotter jobs are processed in the order submitted to the queue.
  • Plotter jobs will not be accepted within one hour of closing (see todays library hours here).

To print from the plotters, please refer to the steps listed below and feel free to ask one of the student operators on duty if you are unsure of anything or need assistance.

Tips and Procedures

Printing to a plotter can be time-consuming. It often takes some time for the plotter to initialize and test all its print cartridges, and once the poster is finished printing the plotter waits several minutes for the ink to dry on the paper. Occasionally, several people may be waiting to print posters, especially when assignments are due. Therefore we ask that you give yourself ample time to use the plotter, and don't try to print something if the lab is about to close.
