Scanners

Mann Library has several desktop scanners available for free public use in the Stone Computing Center (map it) and computer classrooms (map it). The scanners are equipped to scan slides and negatives as well as opaque media. All scanners are available on a first come first serve basis. Scanner users have first priority over e-mail/web surfers on computers that are connected to scanners. Floors 1 and 3 also have Ricoh multi-function scanner photocopiers that can be used for traditional photocopying as well as scanning and saving to USB drive or sending to an email address.

Epson Perfection 1640SU Scanner

This scanner is attached to the Assistive Technology Station (map it). Users of the Assistive Technology facilities have priority for this scanner. The Epson Perfection 1640 SU offers both flatbed and automatic document feeder scanning. (Note: if you need faster automatic document feeder scanning and/or have a lot of pages to scan, try our Network Scanner instead).

To scan a document, follow one of the following instructions and ask the operator if you are unsure of anything.

Epson1660 Photo Scanner

There are eight of these scanners in the Stone Computer classroom (map it) and four in the Stone Computing Center (map it).

Ricoh Aticio IS330DC Network Scanner

Scanning is available from Windows desktop computers in both the Stone Computing Center (map it) (except the stand-up kiosks)  and the Basement Computer Labs B30A and B30B (map it) via a Network Scanner, located directly in front of the Stone Computing Help Desk or behind the Basement Labs Help Desk. Documents up to 11" x 17" can be scanned, and it also features an automatic document feeder for rapid scanning of multiple documents.

Using this scanner is somewhat different than standard desktop scanners - it sends scanned documents to the desktop of the computer that you specify. All the public computers at Mann are numbered, so it's a simple matter of sending your scans to the right computer. You may want to consult our help brochure to get you started:

This scanner has many advanced features, including duplex (double-sided) scanning. If you want to explore these options in depth, here is the user manual:

As always, ask one of our Stone Computing Help Desk (map it) Operators for assistance if needed!
