Mann Library offers a variety of services to support the information needs of Cornell AgriTech.

Instruction and Research Support Services

  • Instruction: Mann Library is committed to providing quality teaching and research support to the faculty and staff of our colleges. This includes open workshops, class-related instruction, orientations, and tours. Please fill out our Request Course Instruction form or contact mann-ref@cornell.edu for more assistance.
  • Immediate Research Help: Contact Mann Library Information and Research Help at mann-ref@cornell.edu or call 607-255-3296. Our chat service is also available 24/7.
  • Request a Consultation: For in-depth questions and one-on-one help with a subject librarian, request a research consultation. We can work with you by phone, Zoom, or on campus during your next visit. Our staff can help with citation management, GIS, business research, data management, systematic reviews and other questions. Fill out our Research Consultation Request form and we will get back to you!
  • Research Guides: Explore the many subject-specific research guides available to help you find information in specific disciplines. For example, check out the Enology & Viticulture Guide and the Wine Industry Guide. We are also happy to create customized research guides for a class or a student group.

Access to Cornell University Library’s Collections

  • Requesting Library Materials: Faculty, students, and staff who are currently affiliated with Cornell and who have departmental mailboxes at Cornell AgriTech may request print materials, whether from the Cornell Library or through Borrow Direct, via the library catalog. Please email mann_circ@cornell.edu and request to be added to the delivery database for Geneva. Once we have confirmed that you have been added, you may select “Special Program Delivery: Geneva Delivery” from the drop-down menu of pickup locations. Once submitted, requests will be processed and sent via Campus Mail to department mailboxes at Geneva. To ensure patron privacy, all items will be delivered in campus envelopes. Interlibrary loan requests will be delivered in the same manner. Please allow 3-4 workdays for delivery. Articles are handled through the library’s ScanIt service. Most ScanIt requests are available in about 48 hours. As a reminder, there is no charge for any of these services.
  • Requesting Library Materials as a Retiree: Retired faculty and staff have full use of the library collection if they are on campus in Ithaca, and they may return items to the library using the book drop located outside the Buildings & Properties Building. If they choose not to come to campus, retired faculty and staff would have to request books or articles through their local public library using Interlibrary Loan (ILL). ILL is the only borrowing option for physical print items at this time, because there is no longer a centralized, staffed location on the Geneva campus to manage borrowing for those affiliates who do not have a departmental mailbox. Retiree borrowing privileges do allow retirees to select a proxy borrower (someone that they have designated to borrow on their behalf). If the retired faculty or staff member knows someone who visits Ithaca’s campus a couple of times a week, they could request items through the library catalog, select an Ithaca campus library location as the pick-up location, and then the proxy borrower could pick-up and charge the items to the retiree’s account and bring them to Geneva.
  • Returning Print Materials: To return library materials, faculty, students, and staff can place up to 3 items in campus mail envelopes (1 item per envelope) addressed to Mann Library which will be processed upon receipt. If more than 3 items are being returned or items are oversized and will not fit in campus envelopes, please return items in the book drop outside the Buildings & Properties Building. Please note: items which have been returned through Geneva campus mail or the book drop will not be removed from patron accounts until they have been received and processed at Mann Library, which could take several business days from the time of return.
  • Special Collections: Rare items from Geneva have been moved to Mann Special Collections. These materials can be viewed in the Mann Library by appointment.

Access to Cornell University Library’s Licensed Electronic Content

  • Licensed Electronic Content: Cornell University Library’s licenses for electronic content restrict access to Cornell IP addresses that are physically located on Cornell campuses, and they also restrict remote (off-campus) access to Cornell users who can authenticate via the proxy server using their NetIDs and passwords. If working off-campus, we also recommend installing Access Anywhere.
